Rule Update: Breakaway Roping Time Limit Revised

Following a review by the Rules Committee, the NRA Board of Directors has voted to revise the time limit for the Breakaway Roping event from 25 seconds to 30 seconds for all 2026 sanctioned events. The change was proposed after several members raised concerns that the previous limit disadvantaged competitors in events held in larger outdoor arenas. The board agreed that the adjustment better reflects standard practice across comparable regional associations. The updated rulebook will be published on the NRA website within the week.
