Youth Spotlight: Cassidy Olsen Making Waves in Goat Tying

March 20, 2026Staff Reporter

Hamilton's Cassidy Olsen has quickly become one of the most talked-about young competitors in the NRA's Goat Tying circuit.

At just 19 years old, Cassidy Olsen of Hamilton is turning heads in the Goat Tying event. With back-to-back podium finishes at the Prairie Wind Rodeo and the Highline Classic, Olsen has announced herself as a serious contender for year-end honors. "I've been roping goats since I could walk," Olsen said with a laugh. "But competing at this level is something else entirely." Olsen holds an NRA Student Permit and plans to upgrade to a full NWRA Card next season. Her coach, veteran competitor Darlene Foss, says Olsen has the work ethic to go far. "She's in the practice pen every morning. That kind of dedication shows."
